For a data reporting class, I made three graphics using Tableau to show how much Missouri farmland is owned by foreign individuals or corporations. I requested data from the Missouri Department of Agriculture and used database query language SQL to extract data to tell a story.
I also used Tableau to report a story on federal funding for research grants at the University of Missouri. This tree graphic shows which federal agencies gave money to the university.
To keep practicing and learning SQL, I started a blog called Show Me More Data to examine random Missouri datasets and make visualizations based off my findings.
As a graphics reporter at the Columbia Missourian, I made print and online versions of graphics to accompany stories written by reporters. I used Illustrator, Highcharts and Tableau.
